Young Adult. The story of a young fiction writer who returns home after divorce to re-kindle an old flame. The only problem is that this old flame happens to be married; with a new baby.
Staring Charlize Theron, Patton Oswalt, and Patrick Wilson, Young Adult comes pressed and ready to delight. A “romantic comedy turned upside down” sertainly sounds like a side-splitter. Unfortunately for you and I the average U.S. movie theater ticket price is $7.89. A price that, for the casual movie goer, might seem steep. And in the case of Young Adult that price is definately heavy.
Don’t get me wrong: the film is funny. Though not on par with, say The Hangover (then again what is at this point); Young Adult even falls short of Bridesmaids. There are some good chuckle points and even a laugh-out-loud moment or two. However, in the end you’ll leave the theater with a shrug and an “eh.”
While Young Adult is worth seeing; it’s more worth the wait of Redbox than the price of a movie ticket. For a good date, try making a nice dinner at home and rent this one.
Feel free to tell me I’m wrong in the comments.
